Your Majesty,

I write to you in my capacity as Grand Master of the Ordre Souverain et Militaire du Temple de Jérusalem (The Sovereign and Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem).  The Order consists of autonomous Christian member Grand Priories and Priories in forty-one countries across the world, including a number in Commonwealth countries as well as the Grand Priory of All Britain (in both Wales and England).  We have some Five Thousand individual members worldwide.

May I therefore, on behalf of myself and my fellow members of this Order, send our sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences to you and the members of your family on the recent death of your beloved mother, Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Her Majesty was admired and respected by peoples all over the world and we fervently unite ourselves with these sentiments as we remember her devoted life of service.

My fellow members and I are praying for you and your family, that God will surround you with His love and comfort at this sad time.

Looking ahead, Sir, I can assure you that members of this Order will also pray for you as you take on the responsibility for the great office which your role as King and Head of the Commonwealth entails.  Knowing the importance of your Christian Faith, which you have spoken about, we pray that God will continue to bless and encourage you.

One of our main purposes for which we would commend your support, is the protection of persecuted Christians who face discrimination and threats to their lives and livelihoods in far too many countries.  Similarly, we admire and welcome your efforts to bring together and celebrate the work of leaders and peoples of other faiths for the furtherance of peace and toleration among nations.

I am sure that Her Majesty’s clear witness to the inspiration she received from the teachings of Our Lord Jesus Christ and her recent TV broadcast words that “We shall meet again” still apply on that heavenly shore where there will be no tears nor sorrow.  So, may the lasting memory of the Queen and of her remarkable talents encourage you to emulate her example as you develop and share your opportunities to do good in this world.  For our small part, we would want to be identified with such activities and may they prove for us all to be a joyous adventure, to the Glory of God,

I remain, Sir, your humble admirer,

Brigadier General Ronald Scott Mangum JD, PhD

United States Army (Retired)
