My lovely wife recently told me about a wealthy South Korean Christian businessman who wanted to display his faith in Christ and his belief in the power of salvation through hard work. In the Korean markets work porters who carry goods from one stall to another in wooden hand carts. The businessman found several very old and worn-out wooden carts and he bought three of them. He took the carts to his workshop, took them apart and turned the worn and ancient wood into crosses which he put on public display in Seoul, South Korea for all to see and understand the toil and sacrifices that our Lord, himself a humble carpenter, made for humankind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I began to think of how we could display our faith in Jesus Christ through crosses and icons that are unique to each of our more than forty Grand Priories. The Grand Priory of the United States has purchased the Castle Christian Church and Museum in the state of Connecticut, for our Order. I ask each Grand Prior to find an appropriate cross or icon from their Grand Priory to display in the church and museum. The crosses and icons do not have to be large, but they should be a unique symbol of their Grand Priory, and they should be accompanied by a short (no more than one page) story of their significance to Christianity, to the Order, and to their Grand Priory. The Grand Prior of the United States has assured me that he will display the collection of crosses and icons and the written descriptions of their significance in the Church and Museum for all visitors to see. This will be a physical manifestation of our unity as a Christian Order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the end of 2021, please select a cross or icon that is particularly unique to your Grand Priory and send it with a short, written description of its significance to: H.E. Grand Prior Timothy Bryant Jones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
